Soluble in alcohol, ether, and sodium hydroxide solution; slightly soluble in water. Stable in acid or alkali, with an aromatic odor and a burning taste. Ethylene glycol phenyl ether (KL-EPH) is a typical high-boiling organic solvent that has been widely used in Europe and the United States since the 1970s. It is a colorless transparent liquid with a slight rose-like fragrance, low volatility, and a high boiling point. Due to its miscibility with many organic solvents, strong permeability, and outstanding overall performance compared to isophorone (commonly known as 783), DBE, and benzyl alcohol, it can fully replace them. KL-EPH exhibits excellent solubility in various resins such as acrylic resin, nitrocellulose, ethyl cellulose, epoxy resin, alkyd resin, and phenoxy resin. It is miscible with alcohols and ethers and is commonly known as the "universal solvent." Used as a stationary phase in gas chromatography. Can be used as a film-forming agent in water-based coatings and inks, a fragrance fixative, an ink flow agent, a pharmaceutical preservative and bactericide, an electronic cleaning agent, and an ink slow-drying agent.
